Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SpeedIQ (“SpeedIQ”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the SpeedIQ website and speed-test tool (the “Service”). We've written it to be clear and honest. In short: SpeedIQ is designed to need as little of your data as possible, requires no account, and does not sell your personal information.
Information we process
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run an accurate speed test and a working website:
- Connection & speed-test data. When you run a test, your browser exchanges real data with a measurement server to calculate download, upload, ping and jitter. These results are computed in your browser. We do not require an account and do not keep a personal history of your results on our servers; if results are saved, they are stored locally in your browser (e.g. session storage) so a page refresh can keep them on screen.
- Network information. To show your IP address, internet provider (ISP) and approximate location (city/country), the Service performs a geo-IP lookup based on your public IP address. This is used to display your network details to you, not to identify you personally.
- Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting may process standard request information (such as IP address, browser type and timestamps) for security, abuse prevention and reliability.
- Language & preferences. Your selected language may be stored in a cookie or local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit.
How we use information
We use the information above only to:
- run the speed test and display your results and network details;
- operate, secure and improve the website;
- remember your language and basic preferences;
- understand aggregate, non-identifying usage to improve the Service.
Third-party services
To deliver an accurate, global test, the Service may route measurement traffic through reputable infrastructure and content-delivery networks, and may use a third-party geo-IP provider to look up your network details. These providers process your IP address to perform their function and operate under their own privacy terms. Any advertisements that appear are served as part of the website experience; where third-party ad or analytics providers are used, they may set their own cookies subject to their policies and your consent where required.
Cookies & local storage
We use a small amount of browser storage to make the site work — for example, remembering your language and keeping your latest result visible after a refresh. We aim to default to the most privacy-preserving options and do not use storage to build a personal profile of you.
Data sharing & retention
We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with the service providers that help us operate the Service (such as hosting and geo-IP lookup), and only as needed for them to perform their role, or where required by law. Because tests run in your browser and we don't maintain user accounts, we retain very little personal data; technical logs are kept only as long as necessary for security and reliability.
Your choices & rights
You can clear your browser's cookies and local storage at any time to remove stored preferences and saved results. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing. To make a request or ask a question, contact us using the details below.
Children
The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age required by your local law to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected here, so we encourage you to review this page periodically.
